Amalgama is a trio of percussion from South Amercia. Those compositions are rhythmic and entrancing with the use of strange and astonishing instruments like the saily caracoles which were already used as musical and communication instruments by the Aztecs and the Mayas.

Amalgama is on the crossroad of several civilizations. It is also influenced by the cross cultures of the Argentinean gauchos, which took place in the Pampa, with the use their tremendous hunting arm - boleadoras – as a percussion instrument and a spectacularly dance.

Through its show, Amalgama presents also the African influence in the Latin America’s music with the use of instruments like the cajita and the cajon which are Afro-Peruvian, the quitiplas are Afro-Venezuelans, the chekéré are Afro-Cubans, the caxixis are Afro-Brazilians, etc.

From different places and from various and wealthy personal paths, Osvaldo Hernandez, Patricia Van Cauwenberge and Mina Kanto melt together in a common project to lead us in a wonderful journey to the end of the world.
